Why every display we hang is LED, and what that changes on your house
We hang only LED, and the reason is practical rather than fashionable. An incandescent C9 bulb pulls around seven watts; the LED C9 that replaces it pulls well under one. On a two-story roofline with a few hundred sockets, that difference decides how many circuits the display needs, how much extension cord runs across the property, and how often a breaker trips when the coffee maker comes on. With LEDs, a full roofline plus wrapped trees usually runs off one or two exterior outlets. With incandescents it would take several, and a lot of cord.
Heat is the other half. Incandescent bulbs get hot enough to dry out a wreath or mark a vinyl soffit over six weeks. LEDs stay cool to the touch, which is why they can sit against greenery, wrap a tree trunk, and run on a timer all night without a second thought. They also hold their color from the first socket to the last on a long run, where incandescents dim toward the far end as the voltage drops.

Commercial-grade, not retail
Retail LED strings use thin cord, molded sockets, and diodes that fade after a summer in the garage. Ours are screw-in C9 bulbs on heavy-gauge outdoor cord, replaceable one at a time, cut to the house, and hung on roof-safe clips. If one ever fails in season, the service call is at no charge.
A fraction of the power
A full LED display runs on a small fraction of the electricity an incandescent display pulls, which shows up as one or two circuits instead of several and a power bill that barely moves in December. Timers trim it further by shutting the display off at the hour you choose.
Built to last many seasons
LED diodes are rated for tens of thousands of hours, so the same bulbs come back season after season. For all-inclusive customers that is our job, not yours: we store the display labeled by section and swap anything that has aged out before it goes back up.
Timers set before we leave
Every display plugs into an outdoor timer set for dusk to your chosen off time and tested on the spot. Photocell timers switch on with the light level, so the schedule tracks the shorter days through December without anyone adjusting it.
Our LED Christmas light installation process
The process is the same for a ranch in Smyrna and a three-story in Johns Creek; only the ladders change.
Step 1: Photos or a visit. Two pictures of the front of the house through the contact form cover most homes. Tall or heavily treed lots get a free visit.
Step 2: Measure and design. Roofline footage along every edge in the plan, story count and roof access, trees and shrubs listed by size, and a decision on color: warm white, cool white, multicolor, or a mix.
Step 3: The written, itemized quote. Any line can be kept or cut, and the number holds once you approve it.
Step 4: Install day. C9 cord is cut to each run on site, bulbed, and clipped at every socket along gutters and peaks. Minis go on trunks and shrubs. Runs are powered from the nearest exterior outlet and tucked along a downspout.
Step 5: Test and time. The display is switched on, walked from the street, adjusted, and left on a dusk timer.
Step 6: Service through the season at no charge, then January takedown with optional labeled storage.
Energy and circuits: what LED changes on install day
The number that matters on install day is amps per circuit, not the power bill. A standard exterior outlet sits on a 15- or 20-amp breaker that is usually shared with something inside the house. Incandescent C9s at seven watts apiece add up fast: a couple of hundred sockets on the roofline alone is more than that circuit can carry, which is why old-fashioned displays needed cords run to the garage, the back porch, and the neighbor's side of the house. The same roofline in LED draws a small fraction of that and fits on one outlet with room to spare for the trees.
That changes what you see from the street. No orange extension cords across the lawn. No splitter hanging off the porch outlet. One run tucked along a downspout to a single outdoor timer, and the whole display on it. It also changes safety: outdoor outlets should be GFCI protected, and a lightly loaded GFCI trips far less in the rain than one running at its limit. If the only outlet on that side of the house is not GFCI, we tell you before install day so an electrician can swap it.
LED lighting options
C9 is the roofline bulb: the classic strawberry shape, faceted so the light scatters, on a socket spacing that reads as a clean line from the street. Warm white for brick and stone, cool white for newer homes with white trim and black windows, and red, green, blue, and multicolor for families who want the street to notice. Minis are the 5mm bulbs that wrap tree trunks and cover shrubs. Icicle strands hang from the gutter edge for a snow-line look. Net lights cover a shrub in minutes; minis wrapped over the crown look fuller and are what we use when the plant deserves it.
Mixing is normal. A warm white roofline with multicolor shrubs, or cool white on the house with warm white in the trees, both read as designed rather than random when the plan is drawn on purpose, which is what the custom design service does. Seasonal LED displays run on timers: dusk on, your chosen hour off. For color changes, chases, and app control from the phone, the answer is a permanent roofline system, which we install from February through September.
LED displays across metro Atlanta homes and businesses
The same LED product goes on a brick colonial, a craftsman bungalow, a townhouse row, and a strip-center parapet; the design and the clip choice change with the building. Two-story colonials take C9s on the gutter edge and the foyer peak. Ranches with long low rooflines read best with the gutter edge only and the trees doing the rest. Townhomes usually light the front elevation and the door. Subdivision covenants across metro Atlanta mostly say nothing about temporary holiday lighting beyond a January takedown date, and a few limit colors on street-facing elevations; tell us the neighborhood at the quote stage and we plan within the rules. Warm white, cool white, or multicolor?
Warm white reads classic and suits brick, stone, and earth-tone trim. Cool white reads brighter and cleaner on white or gray homes with black windows. Multicolor is the choice most families with young kids make, and mixing is common: warm white on the roofline with multicolor minis on the shrubs. When should I book?
By November 1st, for the 10% early-bird discount and first choice of dates. Installs run from late October to mid-December, Monday through Saturday, and the two weeks before Thanksgiving fill first. Later bookings still go on the calendar as quotes are approved, with fewer dates to choose from each week that passes.
Is takedown included?
Yes. January takedown is part of every package, and the crew removes clips, timers, and extension runs with the strands, coiling and tagging each run by location. Labeled storage is optional. Because the LED product lasts many seasons, most customers keep the same design and add to it, which makes the second install faster than the first.
Can you install LED lights I already own?
Yes, if they are commercial-grade. Ask for an install-only quote, which is priced without product on the ticket. The crew hangs what you hand them on roof-safe clips and timers, and storage and replacements between seasons stay with you. Retail strings are a different conversation, because they fail too often for the in-season service promise to make sense; ask and we will tell you straight.
